Title: Discovering the Love of Jesus
Text: Luke 5:1-11
How can we fully discover the love of Jesus?
If we truly discover Gods love, we will love Him, follow Him, and live for Him. Few truth that we learn from the text that enable the disciple not only to love God until the day they die but are willing to serve and suffer for Him while they live. Peter, Andrew, John and James learn to;
1. Obedience to their faith
· Obedience is a Sign of a True Disciple;
· Peter learns to listen to Jesus and do what he says
Luke 5:3–5
Reflective questions:
• Am I willing to obey Jesus even when I do not understand His instructions?
• What area of my life requires humility and surrender?
• Have I made myself available for Jesus to use?
• Do I honor Jesus through my choices, time, and priorities?
• What past disappointment is making it difficult for me to obey again?
• What specific step of obedience is Jesus asking me to take?
2. Recognizing God’s Miracles and Blessings
· All that we have belong to Jesus – we are just managing it for a little whole.
Luke 5:6–7
• What blessings or miracles has God recently done in my life?
• Do I recognize that my success and provision come from God or its from me, my hard work, and own experience?
• Am I grateful for God’s abundance, or do I take it for granted?
• How can I use my blessings to bless others?
• Am I generous with my time, finances, gifts, and resources?
• Do I give obediently, cheerfully, and willingly?
3. Continuing to Encounter Jesus
Luke 5:8-9
• Have I recognized my sinfulness and my need for Jesus?
• Am I depending on Jesus, or am I trying to save and fix myself?
• How do I respond when I encounter God’s holiness?
• Is there any sin I need to confess and surrender to God?
• Am I continuing to seek Jesus daily, if not than what is preventing me from drawing closer to Him?
4. Putting God First in Everything
Luke 5:10–11
• Is Jesus truly first in my family, work, finances, and decisions?
• What do I need to leave behind to follow Jesus?
• Am I following Jesus or merely acknowledging Him meaning just by mouth or action?
• Who is God calling me to reach, serve, or disciple?
• Am I willing to become a “fisher of people”?
• What commitment is Jesus asking me to make today? Like Peter who gives his boat, net…
• How do I respond when I experience failure, disappointment, or “empty nets”?
• Could God be using my difficult season to draw me closer to Him?
Conclusion: Responding to Jesus’ Call
Luke 5:1-11
• What does Jesus’ call mean for my life today?
• Am I willing to leave my past and follow Jesus into the future?
• What is one practical action I will take after hearing this message?
• How can I remain faithful after experiencing God’s blessing?
• Am I ready to say yes to Jesus, even when He calls me away from my comfort zone?
